.v1 Conclusions.
Although the site worked really well, especially on touch devices, scrolling down for more items of footwear and swiping across for detail and macro shots - There was an unfortunately an issue in safari on 1st Generation iPads which caused them to crash once the image cache reached 3mb. As the blog grew and more items of footwear were added, the weight of the fullscreen images became to great and caused the site to become unstable on older iPads. The site went live in 2013 and although the original iPad was fairly outdated by then, it was decided that the site should be redeveloped.
Beating the caching issues
To guard against the caching issues of the original version and to ensure that every page of the newly expanded and more indepth KOT site, the more images that were to be featured on a page the smaller they were. For instance the 'archive' features only thumbnails, whilst the 'latest' page features 15 hero trainer stories with the detail shots being kept on the trainers own profile page. This also meant that it was quick and easy to browse beautiful trainer imagery, and when interested you could get more indepth information on the profile pages.
